RU Football

21 09 2006

I still remember the first time I attended a Rutgers football game as a freshman. The year was 1996 and it was one of the first games of that season. In those days the record for Rutgers Football was not good. Fortunately, things have changed for the better.

Last Saturday, we went to the Rutgers VS Ohio game, in which Rutgers kicked ass big time. Mainly, I went to support Joe Radigan who plays for Rutgers as punter. What I didn’t expect was the number of fans that came out that day. The stadium was nearly full; it was sea of red in the stands!

Prior to the game, we joined a few friends for a tailgate party. For many, the tailgate party was the main attraction that day. As we rode our mountain bikes (that’s right, great parking baby!) through the crowds and traffic, I saw the biggest outdoor party I have ever seen at Rutgers, bigger than Rutgers Fest! I’m talking about beer cans all over the floor, the smell of BBQ all over the air, live bands, loud music playing in parked cars, girls in skimpy outfits, shirtless guys with painted faces… thousands and thousands of people!!! About 41,600 people attended the game that day, and it felt like 41,600 people were partying outside the stadium too!

This is Joe Radigan, President of the RU Salsa Club.
(Notice the green arrows pointing to the ball).

Here are two articles about Joe:

In the following photo, can you find the ball in this picture? I must have stared at this picture for half hour and I still haven’t found it… cheap digital camera! Next time, I’m bringing my 35mm kick ass SLR camera with super zoom lens!!).

You can find the rest of the pictures in my flickr.com album.
